Kenny Compton Jr. was able to fight off 30 of the best super late models in the southeast Saturday evening at Dublin Motor Speedway to win his second career Carolina Clash race. With a third place finish, Luke Roffers was able to extend his points lead over the field. "We have been fighting hard all year to get this win," said Compton Jr. in victory lane "I've never been to Dublin before but I really like this track and look forward to coming back at the end of the season. I also want to thank my crew and especially my father for all of their hard work along with all of my sponsors."

Kenny Compton Jr. in his first ever appearance at Dublin Motor Speedway (DMS) was able to win the XS Power Racing Batteries Fastest Qualifier Award with a time of 15.5 seconds. The echo of his Clements power plant could be heard as he flat footed the entire ½ mile speedway.

The first 10 laps of the feature event seemed as though all 24 cars on the track were thrown into a blender and jumbled up lap after lap as passing was taking place over all the speedway. Johnny Purlsey got in on the action passing Compton Jr. for the lead on lap 9 but Compton Jr. would get back around Pursley to lead lap 12.

Klotz Rookie of the Year contender Travis Yow would go for a wide ride in turn 1 when the front suspension broke sending him over the bank. Another Klotz Rookie of the Year contender, Mike Huey would slow on lap 26 but would resume after minor repairs behind the pit wall.

On the restart, the both Dean Bowen and Craig Shuffield would be bitten by the rattlesnake in turn 3 as Bowen spun in front of the field while running third. Shuffield, with nowhere to go slammed driver side first into the front of Bowen's car. Shuffield would be placed into the ambulance for observation and was released minutes later.

On lap 28, the fans were treated to a side by side battle for the lead when Dennis Franklin caught Compton Jr. with Compton Jr. having the preferred high side. Both competitors would run door handle to door handle until lap 35 when Franklin would bobble in turn 2 collecting the second place runner in Carolina Clash points in Mike Gault. Gault would go for a spin bringing out the caution and sending him to the rear of the field. Gault would capitalize and race his way back to an 11th place finish.

This would setup a 5 lap dash for cash with Compton Jr. showing the way. Compton Jr. wouldn't let the lead go as he went on to victory followed by Franklin in second and Luke Roffers in third. Johnny Pursley made a last lap pass on Jeff Smith coming out of turn 4 for fourth place as Smith would finish fifth.
